Progressive blur veil
There is no gradient of blur: backdrop-filter takes ONE radius and that is that. The ramp is built by stacking layers, each covering slightly less of the strip and adding slightly more blur, and since every layer samples what the ones beneath already blurred, the effect accumulates downwards. The radii double rather than stepping evenly.
