Rotary knob with a tick arc
The gap at the bottom of the arc is not decoration: it is where the atan2 discontinuity is parked. Measuring the angle as atan2(dx, -dy) puts zero at the top and the plus or minus 180 seam exactly in the stretch with no ticks, so the knob never jumps from one end to the other mid drag. Each tick is a full radius strip pinned to the centre and rotated, not a position worked out with trigonometry.
